The phrase “aristo-populism” was coined by Patrick Deneen, a professor of political theory at the University of Notre Dame, in his 2023 book Regime Change: Towards a Postliberal Future. Deneen believes that liberal elites are destroying society from within and that the only way to counter their influence, and save the Republic, is to produce conservative elites, trained in high culture and dedicated to restoring traditional values.
