To make this concrete, we studied one of the most consequential opportunity arenas today: what we call climate solutions, meaning products and services that enable decarbonization. Examples include batteries, electric vehicles, energy storage, solar and wind renewable energy, recycled materials, plant-based proteins, energy efficiency solutions, and biofuel. Many leaders considering new investments to drive growth in these areas are aware of these transitions but still face a basic question: Who is actually building and selling climate solutions, and where is the opportunity emerging? Financial statements do not break out “climate solution revenue” in a standardized way.
