On Feb. 27, General McCasland, who retired nearly 13 years ago, left his home near the foothills of the Sandia Mountains outside Albuquerque, the sheriff’s office said. The general, who is known as Neil, is believed to have left the house on foot at about 11 a.m., Jayme Gonzales, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said on Thursday.
