The official reason for the growing contingent of warships off the coast of Venezuela is to enforce the U.S. prohibition on drug trafficking. Since September U.S. drones have destroyed numerous vessels and killed scores of crewmen in the Caribbean, allegedly because they were carrying illegal narcotics.
